Virgo Gift is an industry-leading gifting feature that allows you to generously give your friends and families any crypto in the form of a virtual gift card. Once verified on Virgo, they can easily access this gift card and that crypto gift.

How to send a gift card

Sending a gift card with cryptocurrency is a convenient and modern way to share the joy of giving. Follow these simple steps to send a personalized gift card to your loved ones.

Step 1: Gift Card Section

After logging into your account, navigate to the top menu and click on the "Gift Card" option.

For mobile apps, tap on the gift card button at the top of the home screen.

Step 2: Gift Card

Select "Send" to initiate the gift card sending process.

Now you have two choices.

1. If you want to a buy gift card with fiat currency (using your Virgo account or credit/debit card) you may choose to click “Buy and Send”
2. If you want to buy a gift card with your cryptocurrency, you may choose to click “Send from Crypto Balance.

Step 2.1: Buy and Send gift card

1. Choose the cryptocurrency you want to send.
2. You can choose how you want to pay for the gift card.
   • Through a VirgoCX account, you can use your CAD balance to buy the Crypto gift card (free).
   • You can choose to use your credit/debit card to buy the Crypto gift card (fees apply).
3. Enter the gift amount in fiat currency. The maximum amount is $500.
4. Carefully input the recipient's email address. Ensure the accuracy and security of the email address, as the gift card will be sent directly to it.
5. Optionally, add a personalized message for the recipient.
6. Agree to the terms of service and click "Proceed."

Step 2.2: Send from Crypto Balance

1. Choose the cryptocurrency you want to send. Only the cryptocurrencies you own will be displayed.
2. Enter the gift amount in fiat currency. The maximum amount is $500 or the equivalent amount in the cryptocurrency you own, whichever is lower.
3. Carefully input the recipient's email address. Ensure the accuracy and security of the email address, as the gift card will be sent directly to it.
4. Optionally, add a personalized message for the recipient.
5. Agree to the terms of service and click "Proceed."

Step 3: Confirm Details

Review the details you entered for the gift card. If necessary, you can go back to make any edits. If you selected a credit/debit card for your payment, transaction fees are listed on this page. Since VirgoCX does not know which card you will use, we displayed fees for both credit and debit cards.

Credit/debit card payment: When making a credit/debit card payment, you will be prompted to choose your existing card or input new card information for the transaction. Follow the provided instructions to complete the transaction. Please note that credit card purchases may be considered as a cash advance by your card issuer and may be subject to additional fees and interest (merchant code 6051). Please confirm the fee and interest with your card provider. Some financial institutions may have restrictions on cryptocurrency which may result in transaction failure.

Step 4: Confirmation

Once you've confirmed the details, the recipient will receive the gift card with a redemption code via email. Simultaneously, you will receive a confirmation email.

How to redeem a gift card:

Receiving a gift card is exciting, and redeeming it on the Virgo platform is a straightforward process. Whether you're a current Virgo user or a newcomer, follow these steps to unlock the value of your gift card.

Redemption Process:

Step 1: Access Your Virgo Account

Log into your Virgo account and navigate to the "Gift Card" section.

Step 2: Click Redeem

In the Gift Card section, locate and click on the "Redeem" option.

Step 3: Enter the Gift Card Number

a. Retrieve the 16-digit gift card number from the email you received.

b. Carefully enter the gift card number exactly as it is shown in the email.

Step 4: Confirm and Enjoy

After entering the gift card number, confirm the details, and proceed. The gifted amount will be deposited into your Virgo account.

For New Virgo Users:

If you are new to Virgo, take the following steps before redeeming the gift card:

a. Download the Virgo app from the App Store or Google Play.

b. Complete the necessary registration and verification process.

c. Access your Virgo account and proceed with the redemption process as outlined above.

Common Reasons for Gift Card Redemption Failure:

1. Incorrect Gift Card Code:

Ensure that the 16-digit gift card code is entered exactly as shown in the email. Any discrepancies in the code may result in redemption failure. Double-check the code for accuracy before attempting to redeem.

2. Sender Cancellation:

If the sender decides to cancel the gift card before it is redeemed, the recipient won't be able to access the crypto. In such cases, it is essential to promptly contact the sender for resolution and clarification.

3. Security and Unauthorized Use:

It is crucial to safeguard the gift card code to prevent unauthorized access and redemption. Virgo emphasizes that the responsibility for the security of gift cards lies with the recipient. If someone else gains access to the code and redeems the cryptocurrency before the intended recipient does, Virgo is not liable for any losses. It is imperative to treat the gift card code with the same level of security as a sensitive password.

Important Note:

Virgo does not assume responsibility for lost, stolen, or unauthorized use of gift cards. Once the code is claimed, the cryptocurrency is considered irretrievable. It is recommended to exercise caution and diligence to protect the security of your gift cards.

How to cancel an issued gift card:

Occasionally, circumstances may arise where you need to cancel a gift card you've sent. Virgo makes this process simple and convenient, allowing you to retrieve the crypto amount and make it available in your trading account. Follow these steps to cancel an issued gift card.

Cancellation Process:

Step 1: Log into Virgo

Access your Virgo account by logging in.

Step 2: Navigate to the Gift Card Section

Go to the "Gift Card" section, located in the main menu.

Step 3: Access Gift Card Transaction History

Scroll down to the last section, which is the "Gift Card Transaction History."

Step 4: Identify the Gift Card to Cancel

Within the transaction history, locate the list of sent gift cards. Identify the specific gift card you wish to cancel.

Step 5: Click the Cancel Button

On the far right of the table corresponding to the selected gift card, find and click the "Cancel" button.

Step 6: Confirm Cancellation

After clicking the cancel button, a confirmation prompt will appear. Confirm your decision to cancel the gift card.
